Counseling Services
As a school counselor, I serve this community in a variety of ways. Read below for more information. These are my main direct-student services.
WHOLE CLASS LESSONSAt the end of the first semester, I sent out a Google Form for teachers, asking them to select the best time for me to come into their class each month. For the teachers who have responded, I am scheduled for 30-45 minute lessons once a month based on teacher availability. When I visit, I will lead interactive lessons using books, videos, and activities centered on character traits and/or specific class needs.

SMALL GROUPMy first group, Sprout, took place during the second quarter and finished before the winter break. I worked with a small group of lower elementary students to build strong peer relationships and social networks that encourage and uplift our students, while utilizing healthy coping techniques and growth mindset to offset anxiety.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELINGI also meet with students on a case by case basis, when referred by teachers and/or families, and in response to activating events. I have also told students that they can meet with me if they are experiencing strong emotions (sadness, anger, etc.), in need of peer mediation, or just need someone to talk with.

What else?
As the school counselor, I am a resource for not only students, but also teachers and family members. I am available for consultation for teachers and I regularly participate in grade level PLT (Professional/Peer Learning Teams). I am a member of the School Improvement Team and the Internal Leadership Team. I am the 504 coordinator, the volunteer coordinator, and the facilitator for MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support).
I also work closely with our phenomenal school social worker, Ms. Jacqueline Love.
We share an office when she is at Morehead on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
